In May 2006 a team of 6 will attempt to make the first Greenland crossing by a disabled woman |

In Spring 2006, a team of 6 will, in the spirit of Nansen’s first epic 600km crossing of the Greenland Ice Cap 117 years ago, attempt to push the frontiers of modern day knowledge, technology and exploration. Not only will this be the first inclusive traverse of Greenland, by a British woman, but a key expedition goal is the collation and dissemination of the technical and theoretical knowledge developed through the process of getting this ambitious project off the ground. The team has already spent time in Arctic Finland, determining the technological innovations necessary to ensure Karen’s survival and the team’s safety. They are now working in close collaboration with a number of well known outdoor brands and technology companies in the design of cutting edge clothing and equipment. These innovations will have a long term impact on the wider world of extreme travel. Follow our progress and read more about the expedition here http://www.byhandsandfeet.co.uk/
